Languages and stories have fascinated me since childhood.
Perhaps that is why I became, at once, a linguist, a language teacher and a poet. To me, these have never been separate pursuits. They all arise from the same curiosity: how we use words to move closer to one another and to the world around us.
I was born in Hungary and now live in Strasbourg, France. I write poetry in both Hungarian and English, while my everyday life unfolds among several languages. For me, languages are more than tools of communication; they are different ways of seeing. Each one reveals the world from a slightly different perspective.
My poetry returns again and again to themes of attention, memory, landscape, belonging and the experience of otherness. I believe that a poem is not meant to provide ready-made answers, but rather to create a space for contemplation and dialogue.
As a linguist and language teacher, I have spent many years working in language education, teacher training and textbook writing. I currently teach at the International Institute of Language Studies (IIEF) at the University of Strasbourg, where I also work with refugee learners. These encounters have profoundly shaped my recent poetry, leading, among other things, to my English-language collection First Names Only.
In 2026, I founded Tongue of Land, a multilingual online poetry project dedicated to bringing together poems from many languages in their original form. The project seeks to create a shared reading space where readers can discover poetry across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
Whether through poetry, language teaching or multilingual projects, I remain interested in the same question: how words shape our ways of seeing, remembering and meeting one another.
